I’m eager to share with you the soft and soothing energy of David McPhail’s The Dream Child. The eponymous character wanders without effort or urgency through a series of magical nighttime environments, her purpose in the story not to teach a lesson or to explain a natural phenomenon but simply to embody and honor the imaginative power of youth. McPhail’s text is formatted as a poem in free verse with luxuriant language and creative line breaks. His illustrations cast the sleepy world and its cheerily wakeful characters in an inviting mellow aurora. #davidmcphail #dreamchild #dream #child #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
