This is Tiger Flower, a curious little volume written by photographer Robert Vavra and illustrated by painter Fleur Cowles. The book came into existence through a chance encounter between the two artists, in which Vavra suggested that Cowles provide photographs of her existing paintings for him to assemble into a narrative—the reverse of the traditional collaboration between author and illustrator. Once she had done so, he arranged them in a suitable order and crafted a story to fit the sequence of images, in which a tiger recounts to an amused bird the supernatural process by which a wild wind and a peculiar patch of grass enlarges small animals, shrinks large animals, and allows all of them to shrug off the expectations of their species and behave exactly as they please. #fleurcowles #robertvavra #tiger #flower #tigerflower #wind #grass #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
