It’s Christmas Eve, a night when through the deepest darkness of the year shines a glimmer of anticipation and hope. What better book for this moment than Allen Atkinson’s Jack in the Green? In this allegorical high fantasy, the natural progression of the seasons is halted by the monstrous Graylock’s abduction of the avatar of Spring. When an unassuming gardener named Jack and his loyal companion Brub find the discarded Staff of the Seasons, they must embark on an epic quest to rescue Spring and restore harmony to nature. Atkinson’s lively prose and dazzling illustrations vividly render a world of bright marvels and grave perils. In his gently triumphant ending, he leaves room for a moment of bittersweet loss and a subtle meditation on the nature of life, death, and rebirth. #jack #green #seasons #spring #summer #fall #autumn #winter #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
