There’s a haunting beauty to Eric Carle’s Draw Me a Star, at once delicately simple and deeply complex. An artist, alone in a blank void, hears a mysterious voice asking him to draw a star. Each of his creations asks him for a new drawing, and so an entire world is born. Carle’s spare narrative uses the act of making art as an allegorical representation of a creation myth; through his trademark painted collage technique he depicts the artist as a demiurge, a figure at once mortal and divine who grows from childhood to old age as he forms a living universe around him. #ericcarle #draw #star #artist #creation #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
