You may have read the beloved picture book classic The Rainbow Goblins, but were you aware that there was a sequel? Well, here it is: The White Goblin by Ul de Rico. This story deals with the eighth member of the Rainbow Goblins clan, banished long ago to the frozen north by his polychromatic brethren. After learning of his siblings’ untimely demise, the White Goblin enacts his plan to spawn an urban civilization that appeared to him in a recurring vision during his exile. He descends into the earth and marshals a race of subterranean Cave Goblins, who spread to the surface, lustily consume the colors all around them, and soon begin to industrialize. Sadly, their civilization devolves all too quickly into chaos and ruin. The pollution of their cities and factories chokes the atmosphere with smog, and the violence of their military clashes rends the very crust of the earth, triggering horrendous global cataclysm. Only an enlightened group of survivors and their shared memory of nature’s glory can restore peace and balance to the world. Through eloquent world-building and dazzling oil paintings, de Rico has created a worthy successor to his original work. #white #goblin #rainbow #color #colors #earth #nature #pollution #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
