Today is Monday, which means “moon day”, and today’s book, fittingly, is @mr.adamrex’s Moonday. After a hilltop drive at night, a family discovers that the moon has followed them home and taken up residence in their backyard. The sun will not rise, and the whole town is swathed in black. To restore the satellite to its proper place in the sky and restart the natural cycle of the hours, the family must drive back the way they came and leave the moon at the top of the hill again. The solemn contrast of light and dark in Rex’s glowing illustrations is leavened by the subtle, deadpan humor found in details of his writing, ranging from the characters’ muted surprise at the physics-defying turn of events to an English lesson listing “moon” as a noun...and sometimes a verb. #moon #day #night #sun #dark #darkness #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
