Cinderella Week rolls right along with this retelling by @barbaramcclintockart, who, adapting her material freely from Perrault, translates the crass “Culcendron” as “Cinderbottom” and adds such merry details as the fairy godmother’s oddball incantation, “FOOMUS BALOOMUS!” The illustrations, created with pen, India ink, and watercolor, provide an abundance of rococo ornamentation. The occasional light use of the cutaway technique produces a subtle diagrammatic effect, laying bare the disconnect between Cinderella’s squalid condition and the rest of her family’s opulent lifestyle. #cinderella #glass #slipper #fairy #godmother #fairygodmother #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
