There’s a timeless quality to the mischievous encounter at the heart of The Fox and the Crow by Manasi Subramaniam and Culpeo S. Fox. In this adaptation of the well-known Aesop fable, a fox encourages a crow to sing and this tricks it into dropping a morsel of food from its mouth. Subramaniam conveys the plot with a lyrical author’s voice, crafting a prose poem in short, elliptical. Fox (the artist, that is) employs an elegant and slightly exaggerated style with deep, subtle colors that erupt into an expressionistic climax as the crow discovers it has been hoodwinked and releases its cry of frustration. #fox #crow #aesop #fable #trickster #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
