For the final entry in Little Red Riding Hood Week, let us examine this exquisitely engineered work by Sybille Schenker. The art comprises hand-stenciled illustrations overlaid with meticulously die-cut pages, which demand to be turned with the most delicate of touches. Some images feature brightly colored landscapes with silhouetted figures, while others contain austere black and white tableaux accented with isolated patches of well-chosen hues and patterns. The physical design of the book supports the craftsmanship within, the binding itself done with sturdy but decorative thread. A note for folklore enthusiasts: though the title of this book is in fact Little Red Riding Hood, the text only ever refers to the heroine as Little Red Cap, emphasizing its descent from the Brothers Grimm tale “Rotkäppchen”. #littleredridinghood #grandmother #wolf #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
