If you’d like a gentle story that’s equal parts comic and cosmic, try C.L.O.U.D.S. by @patcummingsbooks. Chuku, a cyan-skinned celestial being, has just started working at the department of Creative Lights, Opticals, and Unusual Designs in the Sky. As a rookie, he receives the unchallenging assignment of monitoring the sky over New York City and populating it with routine cloud formations. Hemmed in by a set of boring restrictions, he begins to experiment with color and shape. When his creativity garners him the offer of transfer to a glamorous tropical region, Chuku is torn between his longing for self-expression and his desire to communicate with young Chrissy, the only human who seems to notice and appreciate his work. Cummings achieves a luminous color scheme that enhances the lightly contemplative tone of the science fantasy piece. #cloud #clouds #sky #color #colors #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
