It’s a true pleasure to read this spellbinding tale of witchcraft and wonder, The Girl in the Golden Bower by Jane Yolen and Jane Dyer. A woodsman, his mysterious wife, and their golden-haired daughter are menaced by a sorceress who seeks a hidden charm to reveal a priceless treasure. The plot twists and turns with long-buried secrets and startling transformations: the imperiled family’s fate lies intertwined with that of a vanished king and an unseen beast lurking in the wood. Only at the denouement are the obscured connections laid bare. Yolen’s lyrical prose evokes the drama and danger of classic fairy tales; Dyer’s soft and detailed watercolor paintings adds a welcome warmth to the proceedings. #girl #golden #animal #animals #forest #woods #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
