The next version of Rapunzel comes from illustrator @carolheyer, who renders the story in acrylic paintings on canvas, using live models for reference. The bright hues and glossy textures lend a vivid look to the retelling. Rapunzel’s tower stands as a lonely stone column with a conical roof. A note for folklore enthusiasts: The text (credited to Ideals Publishing Corporation) names the witch “Gothel” after her fairy/sorceress counterpart in the original Brothers Grimm tale, Frau Gothel (a name that roughly translates to “Dame Godmother”). The vegetable that the pregnant mother so craves is here called “rampion”, one of several leafy greens commonly called “rapunzel”. #rapunzel #garden #witch #tower #hair #prince #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
