Adventure and emotional depth abound in @davidsoman_’s Three Bears in a Boat. While climbing up to reach a honey pot on the mantel, three young bears named Dash, Charlie, and Theo accidentally knock their mother’s special blue seashell to the floor, breaking it to smithereens. Chagrined at their blunder, the siblings strike out in a sailboat, in search of an island where they can find a replacement. With gentle language and bright, cheery illustrations, Soman fashions a dramatic and lightly humorous narrative that captures the vital energy at the heart of youth. Whether the events of the plot constitute an actual journey taking place in reality or a metaphor for children escaping into fantasy to avoid guilt over their own wrongdoing is left to readers’ imagination. #bear #bears #shell #sailing #boat #sailboat #sea #ocean #island #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
