Surely we’ve all found that our perception of the world affects our beliefs, our confidence, our very abilities. And so it goes for the title character of Bluebird by Lindsey Yankey. One day, the wind vanishes. At least, that’s how it appears to a little bluebird getting ready to leave her nest for the day. How can she fly on such a still day? She explores here and there, but cannot find the wind until she reaches to the top of the tallest building in the city—whereupon she realizes she had the power to fly all along. Yankey constructs her narrative with gentle, introspective language. She employs mixed-media collage effects and a quirky twisting of dimensions in the landscape of her illustrations. #bluebird #blue #bird #fly #flying #wind #park #city #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
