Here is another entry in Beauty and the Beast Week: an enchanting adaptation by An Leysen, whose straightforward writing style and dainty character design provide a diverting and accessible entertainment. Leysen makes several pragmatic changes to the story: she names the protagonist “Belle” (the untranslated French form of “Beauty”), she collapses the two cruel older sisters into a singe character, and she opts to begin the story with the backstory of the Beast, cursed as a young prince by an enchantress not for any particular infraction toward her but simply for his broad personality flaws. Her Beast sports the characteristics of a sheep or goat, though with rather a human nose. #beauty #beast #castle #rose #mirror #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
