Firebird Week is flying right along, and for today I’ve got Firebird, an intriguing version written by @saviour2858 and illustrated by @catherinehydeartist. Pirotta’s spare, poetic language pairs beautifully with Hyde’s moody, expressionistic acrylic paintings, enhanced with gold and copper leaf. A note for folklore enthusiasts: Pirotta adapts the story from “Tsarevich Ivan, the Firebird, and the Gray Wolf”, a tale collected by Aleksandr Afanas’ev in Narodnye Russkie Skazki, with the notable omission of Ivan’s two brothers as antagonists. #firebird #prince #wolf #russia #russian #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
