Have you ever been certain that an unexpected companion would arrive out of nowhere to take you away from your ordinary experience? If so, @mrcdniu and @yvanduque’s Like a Giant is the book for you. A boy looks forward to the adventures he will share with a giant coming to lead him on a wondrous journey across the world. Daniau easily conveys the child’s breathless anticipation by forming his narrative (here translated from French) in the future tense, his language brimming with wild beauty and heart. Duque’s giant, initially appearing as a smooth, black silhouette, soon begins to transform according to his surroundings: in town he is a jut of buildings, in the forest a sturdy tree, in the ocean a whale, in the fields a train, on the mountain peaks a great bird. #giant #boy #friend #friends #journey #adventure #imagination #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
