The book of the day is Kathryn Otoshi’s Draw the Line. In this wordless story, two boys inhabiting an abstract world encounter each other and become friends. The lines they draw upon the ground spring to life as ropes for the two to play with. All too soon, however, an accidental slight causes a conflict; the rope becomes the center of a tug-of-war, which rips an enormous chasm down the center of the blank surface. Afterward, tensions settle, and the boys go about mending the divide between them, both figuratively and literally.
