Drawn ever onward by Pied Piper Week, I find myself poring over a fascinating version in which Robert Browning’s poem The Pied Piper of Hamelin is illustrated by twin sisters Janet and Anne Grahame Johnstone. Browning’s rollicking verse (here lightly abridged) delights with comical characters and audacious, polysyllabic rhyme. The Johnstones’s art shines with rich color, sinuous line, and a wealth of period detail. #piper #rat #rats #child #children #german #germany #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
