For a lovely bit of fantasy laced with excitement, I suggest you read Beni Montresor’s The Witches of Venice. A childless king and queen receive a magical plant from two Fairies of the Lagoon that blooms into a little boy. The king, unwilling to accept this bizarre phenomenon, insists that the boy is in fact a plant and must remain in the garden. After overhearing that the Witches of the Grand Canal have imprisoned a flower-plant girl, the boy builds a pigeon out of stray tree branches and rides off on the Wind to rescue her from their sinister palace. Montresor pairs the delicately outlandish plot with whimsical illustrations to create a memorable and uplifting original tale. #witches #venice #fairies #plant #flower #boy #witch #girl #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
