Have you ever lived with the feeling that you were meant to be somewhere else? Have you ever read a fabulous story and wondered whether it could possibly be true? In his delightful A Small Tall Tale from the Far Far North, @peter.sis.art traces the life of Jan Welzl, a Moravian Czech explorer whose biography blurs the line between fact and fiction, truth and tall tale, history and legend. Welzl, so the stories go, travels north to the Arctic where he is sheltered by the indigenous tribes, learning from them and sharing his knowledge in kind. Some historical sources identify these tales as entirely true; others believe them to be sensationalized narratives fabricated by Czech journalists; still others believe Welzl was real but may have exaggerated or embellished details of his own exploits. With illustrations executed in colored inks, watercolors, acrylic gold, and rubber stamps on aquarelle paper and dried before an oven, Sís honors the spirit of his native folk hero. #explorer #north #arctic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
