There’s a current of gentle humor running through @paulabossio’s The Line. In this wordless adventure, a little girl discovers a line running across the ground. She picks it up and begins to play with it, shaking it like a rope, sliding down it, swinging from it like a tree branch. The line accordingly shapes itself into myriad forms: billowing bubbles, a playful monkey, a rapt audience. Finally, there arises at one end a large, horned monster, which threatens to swallow the girl, but a helpful bear emerges from the opposite end to chase the monster away. Bossio’s pencil-scrawl style works well as a setting for the merry action, particularly at the end of the book, when a mischievous little boy is revealed as the culprit who has drawn the line to begin with. #line #play #draw #drawing #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
