The book of the day is The Sultan’s Bath by Victor G. Ambrus. The sultan of a very dry country is enraged one morning to discover that his bathwater has been stolen. He commands that the thief be apprehended at once. Gul-Baba, the royal gardener, is soon caught pilfering the bathwater to nourish the plants in a hidden garden. For his perfidy, he is thrown into the dungeons immediately. Every day thereafter the sultan visits the little garden, previously unknown to him, but the flowers all begin to wither and die. The monarch and his gardener therefore arrange to share the bathwater: first the sultan will bathe in it and then Gul-Baba will use it for his beloved flowers. Ambrus’s story, based on a Hungarian folktale, unfolds through an appealing voice and merry illustrations with vivid, saturated colors. #sultan #bath #water #garden #gardener #plant #plants #flower #flowers #book #books #childrensbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
