A trip outside inspires philosophical questions and a profound reverence for nature in Wonder Walkers by @michaarcherart. Two children relax on the couch, the weather outside sunny and calm. After looking out the window, they decide to go on what they refer to as a “wonder walk”, evidently an established tradition. Freely and without adult supervision, they wander out the door, over a bridge, past mountains, across meadows, though forests, and all the way down to the seashore before returning home for the evening. The sights they see along the way generate such potent questions as, “Is fog the river’s blanket?”, “Are trees the sky’s legs?”, “Are shells the shore’s necklace?”, and “Is the wind the world breathing?” Such ideas demand no verbal response, dealing as they do in the poetic, rather than the scientific. Archer accompanies her lyrical text with intricate collages using ink, tissue paper, and homemade stamps. #wonder #walkers #walk #walking #walker #nature #question #questions #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
