Do you ever look up at the clouds and picture fantastic arrays of objects and creatures? If so, Peter Spier’s Dreams might just be the book for you. Wordless but for a single concluding statement, it depicts a girl, a boy, and a dog gazing up at the sky. Illustrations occur in pairs, with the full-page spreads alternating between realistic clouds and the marvelous fantasy tableaux they suggest in the mind’s eye: a parade of animals, knights fighting a fire-breathing dragon, a well-dressed crowd strolling on foot and riding in rowboats, a bevy of sea creatures, a slew of old-fashioned vehicles, and finally (on the book’s back endpaper) a bizarre cohort of giants that frightens the children away. Whether their experience is a dream or simply their imagination is left to the reader to decide. #dreams #dream #dreaming #dreamer #dreamers #cloud #clouds #sky #imagination #book #books #childrensbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
