Here is an insightful look at childhood anxiety: Parachute by Danny Parker and @mattottleyart. Toby navigates his life with a great fear of vertical distances. Getting out of bed in the morning, leaving his seat at the breakfast table, dismounting from the sink after brushing teeth—all become perilous obstacles in his eyes. Fortunately, everywhere he goes, Toby wears a parachute on his back, which provides him with a strong sense of security. One day, his cat Henry becomes stuck in a tree and requires a rescue. However, after using his parachute to lower the cat to the ground, Henry himself must gather his nerve and climb down alone. Parker conveys the story in simple, sensitive language; Ottley situates the reader strongly in Toby’s perspective by greatly exaggerating the apparent height of each vertical drop. #parachute #heights #fear #anxiety #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
