Having firmly seized hold of this Fairy Tale Theme Week, I now turn to a few Tam Lin aliases. Susan Jeffers creates a spirited and not always likable protagonist in her engaging and dramatic Wild Robin. This adaption begins on a simple farm in the countryside. A girl named Janet holds deep love and affection for her younger brother Robin, a willful child who regularly refuses to take his share of chores on the farm. After incurring his family’s wrath one time too many, Robin decides to run away from home rather than face the consequences of his unruly behavior. However, after falling asleep in a ring of moss, he is spirited away by the Queen of Fairyland. Janet must drag her brother off his horse in the fairies’ procession through the greenwood and hold onto him as he is changed into a series of animals. Finally, she throws her green cloak over him and Robin is restored to human form. Through winning text and enchanting art, Jeffers uses the Tam Lin ballad as inspiration for a touching tale of sibling devotion. #fairy #fairies #love #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
