The book of the day is Fireflies! by Julie Brinckloe. A boy grabs a jar and heads outside after dinner. There in the dusk, along with the other neighborhood children, he waits for the fireflies to come out. Rushing about, leaping upward over and over again, he catches as many as he can until the jar is full of light. Back at home, the boy places the collection by his bedside table. He soon notices, however, that the glow seems to be fading: the insects cannot survive in captivity. Anguished at the prospect of the fireflies dying, he opens the window and releases them to the night. With thoughtful text and soothing illustrations in blue, yellow, and gray, Brinckloe creates a gentle portrait of childhood play and emotion. #firefly #boy #insect #insects #night #light #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
