Here is a look at Moss Pillows, one of three volumes in the Voyage to the Bunny Planet series by Rosemary Wells. Robert spends a frustrating day visiting his Uncle Ed, Aunt Margo, and their four rambunctious sons. Having hidden himself in the bathroom, he is spirited away to the Bunny Planet by the kindly Bunny Queen Janet, who shows him through a mystical arch and grants him the day he should have had. Robert finds himself alone in the woods, where he sings to the birds, eats sun-warmed tangerine slices, and lies in the moss without a care. In the car ride on the way home, he dozes off, happy and relaxed. Wells grants her protagonist’s wish in fantasy rather than reality, employing a startling textual shift from third-person prose to elegant first-person common meter poetry. Her art depicts the mundane world as a hodgepodge of garish color and the magic forest in soothing shades of green and brown. #voyage #bunny #planet #moss #pillows #forest #woods #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
