Jay Williams and @frisohenstra invite you to a delightfully anarchic good time with The Wicked Tricks of Tyl Uilenspiegel. The book takes place in various cities across the Netherlands. Tyl Uilenspiegel, an incorrigible prankster, arouses the ire of the citizenry wherever he goes. He often makes restitution by turning his rapier-sharp wit on the invading Spanish forces, swindling the occupiers and delivering the ill-gotten gains to the Dutch folk. In the four stories contained in this volume, Tyl brings down a Spanish-held stronghold by walking a tightrope, incapacitates a Spanish governor with a ball of taffy, humiliates a Dutch plutocrat to satisfy a wager with Prince William of Orange, and feeds a hungry town at Christmas by stuffing an entire banquet into Spanish cannons. Williams ably evokes Tyl’s roguish humor and devil-may-care attitude, while Henstra illustrates the mischief and mayhem with hatching and bright colors. #wicked #tricks #trick #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
