Your reaction to The Little Scarecrow Boy, written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by @daviddiazstudio will depend largely on your tolerance for the grotesque. The story is set in a cornfield. A scarecrow family dwells in a little house, surrounded by ears and ears of corn. Old man scarecrow sets out into the cornfield each day to ward off the crows. The little boy wants to join him and prove that he too is fierce. He sneaks out of the house to take his place in the field and, after making all six of his father’s terrible faces, successfully frightens a big black crow away.
