If gentle rhythm and rhyme relaxes you, you’ll surely love Wynken, Blynken, and Nod, a renowned poem by Eugene Field with illustrations by Johanna Westerman. Three children sail up into the night sky, riding in a mystical boat formed from a wooden clog. The nautical vessel is just the thing, as the starry world above appears to them as a wide open sea, with the moon a friendly guide upon the surface of the waters. They cast a net outward and haul in a catch of twinkly herring before returning to their nursery to lay their heads down and sleep. Westerman’s cool, soothing art forms a sweet counterpoint to Field’s immortal verse. #child #children #night #boat #shoe #sky #sea #ocean #moon #stars #fish #fishing #sailing #sleep #book #books #childrensbooks #picturebook #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
