Continuing with my new Firebird Week, Neil Philip and Isabel Brent create a dazzling adventure in The Golden Bird. A young prince must discover who is eating the precious apples of his father, the king. So begins a tale of magic and danger—the prince retrieves a golden bird, a golden horse, and a beautiful princess, all with the help of a clever fox. Philip’s faithful adaptation is enhanced by Brent’s gilded art. A note for folklore enthusiasts: This tale was first published by the Brothers Grimm in Kinder- und Hausmärchen (1812). It is a variant of the same tale type as the Russian story Tsarevich Ivan, the Firebird, and the Gray Wolf. #golden #bird #prince #king #fox #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
