From @angelamcallisterbooks and Grahame Baker-Smith comes a lyrical tale of friendship, wonder, and seasons personified: Winter’s Child. Tom lives in a little house with his mother and his Nana. Winter has been dragging on unusually long, and everything all around is frosty and chill. Tom revels in the snow blanketing the landscape, though his grandmother, old and in frail condition, cannot bear the cold. Soon, he meets a pale boy who becomes his new playmate out in the frosted world, and the two meet every day for bouts of icy revelry. When Nana’s health begins to suffer, Tom cannot hide his concern for her. The pale boy finally reveals his secret: he is Winter’s Child, and as long as he stays away from home spring will be held at bay. Now, however, he does his duty and returns to his family, thus allowing the world to burst into bloom and saving the life of Tom’s beloved Nana. McAllister’s elegant text infuses mystical allegory with genuine emotion and heart; Baker-Smith’s compelling digital art gleams with bright white, swirling silver, and shivery blue. #winter #child #friend #friends #friendship #spring #family #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
