If you’re after a breathtaking fusion of the scientific and the poetic, look no further than Ray Jayawardhana and @raul.colon.7140’s Child of the Universe. At bedtime, a young girl’s father lulls her to sleep with the connections between her own body and the materials of earth and space. In loosely rhyming couplets, Jayawardhana links microcosm and macrocosm—hair swirling like the Milky Way, eyes reflecting faraway planets, atoms spinning like Saturn’s rings. In Colón’s hypnotic colored pencil art, hot elements like particles and starbursts are drawn in brilliant reds and yellows, while the cooler reaches of sea and space provide soothing greens and blues. #child #universe #father #daughter #planet #planets #star #stars #earth #space #science #love #book #books #childrensbooks #picturebook #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
