For a thoroughly entertaining read, pick up a copy of S. T. Mendelson’s Stupid Emilien. While anthropomorphic rabbits populate this adaptation of a Russian folktale, their motivations and interactions are distinctly and outrageously human. Mendelson depicts both the beauty of the natural landscape and the ornate design of the architecture in a series of dazzling paintings that overflow with action, humor, and magic. The title, though it might come across as harsh, resounds with irony: the protagonist’s relaxed and unpretentious lifestyle reads to his judgmental community as stupidity, and he simply does not care to make a correction. Mendelson, of course, gently invites readers in on the joke. #stupidemilien #book #books #childrensbooks #fairytalebook #fairytalebooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
