This is The Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Inga Moore. The story comes to us from an eighteenth-century poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, but the tale type and its associated motifs date back to the ancient world. Moore’s rendition sizzles with enchantment: stone chimeras, flasks of alchemic liquid, and tomes of forbidden knowledge abound. Central to the visual world of the book, her uncanny depiction of the imposing castle displays a polarized vertical dimensionality, with lightning-threaded clouds in the sky above the soaring tower tops and a rainbow-kissed waterfall down a dizzying flight of stairs far below. #ingamoore #goethe #sorcerer #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
