For today, we’ve got The Terrible Troll-Bird by Ingri and Edgar Parin d’Aulaire. The married author-illustrators gaily retell a Norwegian folktale whose eponymous fowl gives off a somewhat cheeky air of menace. The children of a quiet farm family must alert their mother to the danger, subdue the monstrous bird, and later contend with the looming threat of its wicked troll owners. The d’Aulaires create their pictures through the process of lithography, lifting prints from etched limestone plates, and later add vibrant color to the base black-and-white images. #daulaires #nordic #norse #troll #trolls #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
