It’s time for a strange glimpse into the unknown (perhaps indeed the unknowable) with Etienne Delessert’s A Long Long Song. The minimal text, a traditional (and cheerfully inane) nursery rhyme, takes on new meaning in the context of the illustrations, which follow a xenomorphic visitor through a wintry landscape. In his characteristically loopy watercolor-and-colored-pencil images, Delessert portrays the extraterrestrial being (or is it a supernatural entity?) as a gentle and serene wandering musician whose pacifism transforms instantly to avenging wrath in the face of threats to the safety of its jolly friends and bandmates. #etiennedelessert #nurseryrhyme #nurseryrhymes #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
