A gentle amalgam of whimsy and wordplay animates Moira Miller and Ian Deuchar’s The Proverbial Mouse. Miller crafts the lighthearted tale of a mouse hungrily exploring a quiet shop after dark, constantly mistaking assorted playthings for food. Upon each error, a doll or figurine springs to life and admonishes the innocent creature with a well-known proverb, occasionally tweaked or reinterpreted for comic effect. Deuchar depicts the living toys with an ever-so-slightly eerie aspect, but always reassuringly foregrounds the endearing features of the eponymous rodent. #moiramiller #mouse #proverbial #proverb #proverbs #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
