Today I’m revisiting an old classic: James Thurber and Louis Slobodkin’s Many Moons. Young Princess Lenore, sick in bed, is sure she’ll be well again if her father can get her the moon. The king consults his Lord High Chamberlain, his Royal Wizard, and his Royal Mathematician, but only the Court Jester, armed with unexpectedly clever logic and respect for the power of imagination, can grant the girl’s request. Thurber revels in the absurdist comedy of the feckless advisers’ hyperbolic claims and the king’s mounting frustration, while Slobodkin provides loosely-drawn cartoon-style illustrations that underscore the farcical nature of the entire affair. #louisslobodkin #jamesthurber #manymoons #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
