For a tale of action, chivalry, and heart, I recommend Sir Cedric by @roygerrard_archive. In this medieval-set original story, the eponymous knight leaves his post as castle lord and sets out in search of excitement. Along the way, he jousts against a wicked villain, rescues a damsel in distress, and inspires a people to defend themselves against an invading threat. Gerrard uses the form of a heroic ballad in common meter, with lines of lively anapestic meter begging to be read aloud. His charming illustrations give us a rich and meticulously detailed environment populated by merry humans with bulbous heads perched atop squat little bodies (and by horses with impossibly long legs). #roygerrard #knight #knights #castle #castles #medieval #middleages #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
