For today, a retelling of the tragic Greek myth Orpheus and Eurydice by Sybil Gräfin Schönfeldt and Iassen Ghiuselev. At the wedding of Orpheus, the son of one of the nine muses, and his sweetheart, the oak nymph Eurydice, disaster strikes: the bride is bitten by a snake and dies. The grief-stricken Orpheus journeys to the underworld and retrieves his love, only to lose her once more when he cannot complete the required walk to the land of the living without looking back at her. Schönfeldt’s affecting prose (translated from German by Pauline Hejl) and Ghiuselev’s elegant illustrations honor the pathos and drama of the tale. #orpheus #greek #greekmyth #greekmyths #greekmythology #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
