You’ll find equal parts eerie and playful in the offbeat thriller Black Dog by @levi_pinfold. One day, Mr. Hope, Mrs. Hope, Adeline Hope, and Maurice Hope wake up to discover something shocking has come to visit. To their dismay, a black dog is standing just outside, each member of the family perceiving it successively larger. Only the youngest child, Small Hope, musters the courage to go out and confront the enormous creature. By leading the dog on a wild goose chase through tighter and tighter spaces, Small demonstrates that appearances can be deceiving, and that keeping a level head stops problems from looming larger than they truly are. While Pinfold’s illustrations underscore the tension of a literal reading of the text, his wry narrative voice injects little leavening moments of humor into the proceedings. #black #dog #blackdog #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #classicchildrensbooks #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
