The book of the day is Lane Smith’s Grandpa Green. A young boy takes readers through the history of an unnamed, unseen man—eventually revealed to be his great-grandfather—from childhood to old age. Smith cleverly pairs his thoughtful text with images of the boy passing through a topiary garden, each sculpted hedge illustrating a key event or object from the old man’s experience; we thus encounter a life revisited and expressed through art. By the book’s end, the boy treks all the way to the work site of the mysterious topiarist the eponymous Grandpa Green himself. #grandpa #green #hedge #topiary #garden #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
