Here’s a book that may well resonate with anyone who’s been feeling a bit cooped up lately: Flora’s Magic House by Binette Schroeder. A young girl who dwells in a fantastical garden begins to wish she could travel out into the world beyond. To cheer her up, kindly Robert the Bird brings in the sensible Humpty Dumpty and the foolhardy Magic Box, the latter of whom boasts that he can create or construct anything he wants. Schroeder positions Magic Box’s vanity as a force for trouble and Humpty Dumpty’s prudence as a contrasting source of solutions as the three companions are whisked away on the wind and deposited in a far-off sea. Her illustrations place objects and characters on solid-color backgrounds, heightening the fanciful setting’s removal from reality. #magicbox #magic #box #paper #house #plane #airplane #boat #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
