There’s a quiet thread of magic and mystery woven throughout Einar Turkowski’s Houses Floating Home. The book does not feature a traditional continuous narrative. Rather, each two-page spread presents a pair of opposite words (translated from German by Belinda Cooper) and an illustration showing a surreal landscape in which the two concepts contrast, collide, and combine into wondrous forms. Turkowski’s grayscale drawings transport the reader to eldritch dimensions whose bizarre and delightful tableaux suggest scenes from the middle of enigmatic silent films. #opposite #opposites #dream #world #dreamworld #magic #mystery #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookillustrations #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
