The act of gift-giving creates a bond between two humans. A sequence of these links forges a powerful chain that can last for generations. This vital process is the focus of Gauchada, by C. Drew Lamm and @fabiannegrin, a book that starts out as an exploration of Argentinian culture but widens in scope to affirm universal human truths. A gaucho, or cowboy, carves a white crescent moon from an old bone and sets it on a silver-rimmed black stone to turn it into a necklace. He then makes a gauchada (a favor or kind deed) by presenting the finished piece to someone he loves. The necklace passes from person to person, each transfer signifying true and enduring affection. Lamm uses flowing lines of lyrical prose poetry to achieve a hopeful and humanistic tone in her far-reaching portrait of the human race. Negrin’s soft-textured and warm-hued art celebrates the emotional connection between friends and family members the world over. #gauchada #gaucho #moon #necklace #love #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
