Just try not to enjoy yourself while reading Ingrid and Dieter Schubert’s The Magic Bubble Trip. James loves frogs and dearly wishes his parents would let him keep them as pets. One day, he blows a soap bubble that inexplicably grows larger and larger, envelopes him, and carries him out the window. James floats off to a bizarre meadow filled with mounds of grass-covered frogs and enjoys an afternoon of merriment before seeking the help of the eccentric Mr. Odds-and-Ends to return home. The married author-illustrators’ collaboration results in a charmingly offbeat adventure with entertaining and cheerfully loopy illustrations. Fascinatingly, the original Dutch title, “Helemaal verkikkerd” (“totally in love”) derives from the word “kikker” (“frog”). A literal translation might therefore read: “Completely befrogged”. #bubble #bubbles #frog #frogs #magic #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbook #beautifulbooks #beautifulbookcover #beautifulbookcovers #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #picturebookart #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
