Rarely is a nonfiction picture book on physics presented as gorgeously as You Are Stardust by Elin Kelsey and @soyeonis. Inspired by the poetic but scientifically sound observation that atoms from old stars can be found everywhere, even within our bodies, Kelsey weaves an extended complex of metaphors and similes to liken aspects of human anatomy and physiology to elements of nature. A fetus occupies an amniotic sac as fish swim in the salty ocean, we learn to speak as as birds learn to sing, we breathe as the wind blows pollen, electricity crackles through our brains like lightning, our hair sheds like autumn leaves. Kim illustrates these powerful concepts with stunning dioramas that comprise drawing, painting, collage, stitching, dyeing, and assemblage of natural materials. #star #stars #stardust #human #humans #humanity #world #earth #science #book #books #childrensbooks #beautifulbooks #picturebook #picturebooks #picturebookillustration #childrensbookillustration #childrensliterature #illustration #kidlit #kidsbooks #bookworm #booklover #booklovers #bibliophile #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookstagrammers #instabook #instabooks
